I'm due to go back to work on Monday after 3 weeks plus half term week off and I'm feeling very nervous. I dreamt last night that my lovely Y11 were horrible to me because I had let them down, and then that my lesson was being observed but no-one told me that staff now had to wear school uniform and I was dressed for the beach!

I had the OH phone consultation on Thurs and they suggested a phased return, based on the fact that last week my ESR had gone from 107 to 64 and that the blood tests I had done would help the rheumy decide on the next drug to try as the MTX and Plaquenil don't seem to be doing enough on their own. Then on Friday I got a letter from the Rheumy saying that yet again the tests had not been properly done abd I will need to get a repeat done before she can change anything! I'd only just come back from the hospital with my mum!

So I'm going back into work much the same as I left! I was satrting to feel better for having a rest but then, with my parents both being ill, then Mum in hospital for 5 days, I feel run ragged again.

I feel paralysed today - loads I know I should be doing to get ready and I just can't get my head round it. Off to sit and write lists - maybe that will get me motivated! XX Ailsa

Ailsa-if you're not ready to return to work then you're not ready, full stop. I'm sure you could get an extended sick note?

Hi Ailsa,

I can understand how you feel, but your lovely year 11's will I'm sure understand, surely they will now be on study leave and you will have prepared them for their exams.

Your health is more important, couldn't you rest until the new term in September.

Don't they say stress can trigger the RA, so be careful.

Hi Ailsa,

Stress can be a big trigger for aches and pains, If your not ready ask your doctor for a longer line its only a few weeks to go anyway before the holidays. Then you can pop in and see everyone with no pressure and come away when you feel ready to. Take care Lorna x
